"FRAGRANCE & THORN" is A Martinez' debut album on Magic House Records. The album includes ten songs, each written by and featuring A on vocals and piano. He says, "This is California Rock. It's all about the songs. I grew up playing stuff by Jackson Browne, Poco, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and especially The Eagles."
The record is guitar-driven, with lots of rich acoustic and ringing electric playing by Dean Parks, a major ripping master of the style. It was produced by Gary Grant. Ken Wild is on bass, Tommy Walsh on drums. The songs are stories and reflections from A's life - a journal of hopes, passions and regrets.
