Greetings once again, and welcome to the domain of the masters of this

in A. We hope you will feel at home here, and will let us know what you

Bowing to the immediate negative reaction we had to our recent experimant
in changing the site's "background," we have reinstated the yellow
diagonal vibe, which makes our words, according to our mail, much easier
to read. We stand corrected, and thank those who who responded.
We will be making every effort to keep you up-to-date on A's acting
and music stuff as it comes along. One of the reasons this place exists
is to support the many people who have written to A to express their disappointment
at not being informed of his appearances and activities. Fans in the USA
and in some parts of Europe can follow him regularly on "General Hospital,"
but for many of you, his appearances elsewhere are the only way to keep
up with him. Anyone who is aware of a notable re-run or video release of
some other project of his, we would love to hear from you. Unless you ask
us not to, we may post your letter when we get it. Photos you'd like to
share are also welcome. A lot of the stuff we have was scanned from magazines
and is slightly weird. Anyway - we hope you will enjoy the site. Let us
know.
P.S. The grinning boy above was a second-grader wearing a "Superman"
T-Shirt when the shot was taken; the muy serioso dude to his right was
Cruz in "Interrogation Mode."
P.P.S. If you haven't heard his album, make sure you download the song
samples. They're delicious.

from MAUREEN
Dearest A,
I just wanted to send you an e-mail to thank you so much for taking
the time to send me you album. I listened to it the moment I received it.
You never cease to amaze me on your talents. I have a photo I would like
to send out to you to have autographed. What is the best address to send
it to? If you could let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.I hope you
are feeling better as in your letter you said you had the flu. Thank you
so much for being the kind and sweet man that you are. Keep up the great
work and I look forward to seeing you next year in Orlando.

Webmaster's Note***
Maureen has put up a nice site for A, which includes photos from this
year's Super Soap Weekend and some shots of him as Roy on General Hospital.

Hi A,
Thank you for your kind words about the fansite....I treasure them!
I think the site finally has a permanent address at geocities.....I apologize
for their obnoxious ad, but geocities provides lots more freebie space
with fewer tech complications (I hope). In case you happened to visit the
site while the written Interviews/Articles portion was down, I hope you'll
have the chance to check it out again soon...there are over 30 articles
so far, more in progress, and lots more on their way to me from your very
generous fans around the world!
Putting together this site (tech issues aside) has been a joy, and
I'm looking forward to sharing it with your many fans.
Wishing you and those you love a wonderful Christmas and 2001....

Hi there,
Just wanted to say what a pleasant surprise your web site is for one
of my favorite actors. It is well designed, easy to navigate and full of
fun information. Most notable however, is the tone of the site which strikes
a nice balance between respect, admiration and a sense of humor with regard
to A. Martinez and his career. Such a wonderful point of departure from
the rather gushy and somewhat obsequious sites out there for many celebrities.
A credit to you and to A!
Having been a HUGE Santa Barbara fan due largely to A and Nancy Lee
Grahn, you can well imagine my pleasure in having them both on General
Hosptital. Granted, this vehicle is going through some tough writing at
the moment but I'm hopeful that with A on the team the show will take a
turn for the better. I like the chemistry he is already building with members
of the cast. I hope you will be reporting on these developments in the
near future.
Thanks for the tour!

A,
We wanted to welcome you back to daytime and to GH. You are the single
reason, we started watching GH again. Loved you on SB as Cruz; he was and
still is the ultimate hero!!! Love your album "Fragrance and Thorn".
Any plans on releasing a second one?
We maintain 3 sites devoted to Cruz and Eden clips (mpegs), hope you
check it out if you get the chance.
All the best,
Katie and Allison

Dear A.
As a long time fan of yours, I was thrilled when you came to GH. though
I had never watched that show and was fanatic about only Santa Barbara,
of course, I had to begin.
Do catch All My Children now and then, because so many alumni of SB
are on it. Hope you work will be a pleasure for you, as I'm sure it will
be for me.

Hello A,
Would you believe this is my very first fan mail to any actor?! Never
knew how to write an actor until I was directed to your webpage. I'm 46
and have been a fan since your Santa Barabara days. I'm singing your praises
on the Ratsa message board!
There's the link in case you haven't heard about it. You've got a lot
of fans and are making many new ones with your new portrayal of Roy. I'm
so happy to be able to watch you working again. Had no idea you are a singer
as well! I'm ordering your cd. Downloaded the samples and enjoyed them
that much!
Thanks for coming to my new soap, GH.

Dear A.,
I was very excited when my CD's arrived last Friday and saw your personal
touch letter and autographs. I will treasure them always. The second CD
is a Christmas gift for my daughter, Laurie, who is also a huge fan of
yours.
I immediately played "Fragrance and Thorn" and thoroughly
enjoyed it. I knew how talented an actor you were from watching Santa Barbara,
several movies and various other TV projects , but never imagined you had
such musical talent too. I know my daughter will be thrilled when she hears
it.
I'm so glad your back on TV. I recently started watching General Hospital
to see you. I hope you get to work once again with Nancy Grahn sometime
in the near future.
Good Luck to you in all your endeavors. Ill be looking forward to your
next musical project while enjoying your acting and 'Fragrance and Thorn'
many times over.
Sincerely,
Joan
from SHELAGH
Whoah, A!!!
Talk about intense. Sir, you definitely know how to wrench every waking
emotion from the soul! CRUEL JUSTICE proved it once again. If you want
my two cents worth as to whether it was "right" that Jerry Metcalf
killed the rapist of his daughter, I would say not "right" but
"just".
My mom used to say, "Kids don't grow up in a vacuum". Yet,
the young Metcalf daughter (sorry, forgot her name) asked what if the rapist's
father thinks it is now okay to seek revenge on her father for what he
did to his son. That vicious circle of revenge.
Trouble is, I believe the rapist's parents have to take some responsibility
for how this guy turned out as well as the court's inability to charge
that wrecked personality despite previous charges brought against him.
It's not a question of vigilantism, but of how to stop the violence.
The courts say it's okay to rape/stalk/terrorize and even kill and you
can walk with a good lawyer. But the victim is put on trial as if they
ask for it. EXCUSE ME! But who ever asks to get terrorized and raped!!!!
Yet, if the victim or his/her parents try the same mind-wrenching tactics
of watching, observing, even verbally threatening, THEY get slapped with
a restraining order or worse. And still the attacker has HIS/HER rights
protected.
When the human psyche is attacked on all fronts, how can the courts
NOT see it as self-defense? I just cried hearing Jerry's confession to
the priest as to his vengeful thoughts because of how that punk hurt his
family. Why is that wrong? That's human! And I certainly can't say it was
"right" to take another's life, but when evil is intent on taking
another's soul and sanity, then I have to say that God will forgive the
Avenging Angel.
Personally, I may believe in God, but I really get confused on his
set of "simple" rules. If there is a commandment that says, "Thou
Shalt Not Kill" why does he have written a person should "turn
the other cheek" yet exact "an eye for an eye". You know,
I really wish the writer's would have had Jerry or even Dean hire a big,
burly, beefy, ex-con to attack/assault/rape that punk and let him LIVE.
Maybe, just maybe, that "eye for an eye" thought might just sink
in. But I doubt it.
I'm rambling, sorry. But I did want to let you know that I truly miss
you as Coop on PROFILER, yet am glad you are keeping busy with projects
such as this. Is there a possibility of a sequel so we can see how the
family turns out 5 years from now? (Okay, I can dream, can't I?)
Again, thank you for a riveting performance. You are one hell of a
actor and as much as I dearly appreciate the heat and fire of your characters,
my heart prefers to see you smile, laugh and love. This pained and conflicted
hero was more than my optimistic heart can usually stand. Yet the story
was well worth the time.
Good luck on your future projects. I will definitely keep my eyes open.
My best to your family!
Always a Critic/Fan,
Shelagh
from LORRAINE
Hello A:
"CRUEL JUSTICE" was very hard to watch, seeing one of my
favorite actors in a role of someone acting so irresponsibly. No matter
how bad Mr. Metcalf felt for his daughter and family, there was no excuse
for him to do what he did. A warning would have been okay, and making himself
more of a nuisance with the police so maybe THEY would also warn that kid
to leave his daughter alone. But for him to take the law into his own hands,
and think he could play God because he couldn't take it anymore was 100%
wrong. I don't like to see things like that, I think it sends a bad message
to our society which is already too ready to resort to force or violence
when things don't go our way. You should think twice before you take a
part like that in the future.
Sincerely, Lorraine

A, I just read in the soap mags that you're joining "General Hospital".
I thought it was just the usual summer hype when I first saw it. At LEAST
once a year, they reported that you were joining "Guiding Light",
"Another World" and any other soap that Jill (Farren Phelps)
worked on. How nice it was to see an article that wasn't just speculating.
I hope it's a strong role for you and that you'll have a great time working
with your former "Santa Barbara" actors. I just wanted to tell
you that this made my day and I can't wait to see you back on air.
Best of luck to you.
Nancy
from JUDY
Hi A!
I just read in the new TV Guide about your joining GH's cast. That
is so great! I can't wait! And that you signed a 3 year contract. GH is
my favorite soap these days. I was a huge fan of Santa Barbara, & after
it was canceled I was very disappointed. Then I started watching GH again,
as they aired in the same time slot where I lived.
I have enjoyed seeing you in various series & movies since Santa
Barbara went off the air, but I have always hoped you would get on another
soap so I could see your work more regularly. And the fact that you will
be on GH is just so perfect! I had hoped that you might join the Sunset
Beach cast when it first started, but I am glad you didn't as I have stopped
watching that some time ago. It is just sooo lame!
I think you will enjoy working on GH, there are some terrific actors
on there. I especially like Anthony Geary. Hopefully, you will have scenes
with him, if your character does get "involved" with Luke's sister
Bobbie, as the TV Guide article mentioned you no doubt will. Jackie Zeman
has been on that show a long time as has Tony Geary.
GH has done exceptionally well in the awards shows lately, & well
deserved awards they were. Anyway, I am happy for you & happy for myself
& all your fans out there. Way to go!
Looking forward to seeing you in action!

Dear A -
Well, you certainly are talented! I've enjoyed your acting for some
time now, although I never did see you on Santa Barbara - wasn't much into
soaps (regretfully). I agree with Viet's comments on the demise of Coop
- but that's life I suppose.
You seem to have so much more talent as a musician than as an actor.
I was surprised at first (not putting down your acting at all), until
I stopped to think about the fact that YOU write the music and words you
sing - other less talented folks write what you act. Makes complete sense
then!
Choosing my favorite song is difficult, they all have such feeling
to them. I'd have to choose La Luz de la Luna though - so sad yet romantic
all at once.
It will truly be a crime if you don't continue writing/performing.
Other issues can clog the way if you don't guard against it - don't let
that be true of you. We need to see & feel the love and romance you
can project through your songs. There can be no doubting the love you have
for your wife and family after listening to your tape. You negate the fast
paced 'do your own thing' mentality the world seems so fond of promoting
today - keep up the good work.
While I do hope to see more of you as an actor - the real loss would
be if your singing/writing career ended. Don't give up! cj

finished. A Martinez was very patient. Its a good website for him.

I just received your CD 2 weeks ago and it is FANTASTIC! I absolutely
love it! I think I already have every song memorized. I must say I was
surprised because I didn't know you sang. I have been a fan of yours ever
since your "Santa Barbara" years and have followed your career
through "LA Law", "Profiler", and your numerous movies.
I had no idea you could sing until I found your website and the information
on your CD. I really didn't know what to expect because I had only known
you as an actor, but when I listened to your CD I was totally blown away!
The writing is superb. The songs just kind of flow from one song to another.
The whole album has a "feel good" feeling to it. It is hard to
pick my favorite song because I thoroughly enjoy each song in its own right;
however, I must say that I love the upbeat tempo of "Hope", (my
2-year-old dances whenever she hears it), and the quiet ballad "Baby,
I Never" is so sweet . (That one was obviously written for your wife.
You are quite the romantic guy!) I do especially enjoy the title cut "Fragrance
& Thorn." I do hope that you continue to write and sing. This
aspect of your many talents has been hidden for way too long. I will continue
to follow your ever expanding career, and I will continue to visit your
website. Good luck on your current and future projects --- which I hope
will include another album!

Hello A,
How are you? It's been a while since I wrote you last, thank you for
the kind words you gave me when you responded. I enjoyed your aol live
chat. You actually answered one of my questions! It was great!. Hope that
your Thanksgiving was good....
I am writing to you about last Saturday's episode of "The Profiler",
I was totally shocked to see that they killed your character "Coop"
off. Now , I am not one to cry but that episode really touched me...
You know the God's must be looking out for me because of the recent
re-release of "The Cherokee Kid" because once again it really
lifted my spirits. Are there any new projects in your future? If so, good
luck to you . I ran into a former co-worker and while trying to explain
the in's and out's of e-mailing, I happen to mention to her that I had
mailed you, and you were so nice as to reply that I think she didn't believe
so I sent her your response to me she just about fainted. It was so great!!
All I could do was to laugh because she is as big a fan as I am. I alsorecently
checked out your website and downloaded you music. All I can say is BRAVO!!!!
You have a beautiful voice. Congratulations on your CD.
Well, I think that I should close this letter so all I am going to
say is:
Good luck in future projects.
God bless you and your family
May all your dreams come true.

Dear A,
Recently I received your CD "Fragrance & Thorn." The
more often I listen to it, the better it gets. It is a fantastic album.
"When your dreams are done" is my favorite. Thank you oh so very
much for signing the CD for me. That means a lot to me and makes it even
more special and personal.
During the past two months, some of your movies were aired on TV here
in Holland which I enjoyed very much: "She Led Two Lives", "Powwow
Highway" and "Sweet Dreams."
Keep up the good stuff and thanks again!

Bonjour A.
vous avez fais, du genre de: CHEROKEE KID; À LA RECHERCHE DE LARRY;

from STACEY

My name is Stacey Abel
and I am a friend of A Martinez. After reading the latest update on his
website, I saw that you were interested in obtaining photos to scan for
this site. I went through my photo albums and have enclosed some of the
best shots of A that I have taken through the years, which I hope you can
include on the web page.
I have been a fan of A's for many years and while he was on Santa Barbara
I started corresponding with him. In one of his letters he mentioned that
if I was ever in Los Angeles I should call him at the studio to meet him
and tour the set. I took him up on his offer and spent one of the best
days of my life with him on the set. I went with my mother, Marlene, and
my sister, Cheryl. We met practically the entire cast and had lunch with
A at the commissary.
The picture with A outside his dressing room was taken that day. There
is also a picture with A and Leslie holding the Daytime Emmy that he won
for Best Actor. One of the pictures is with myself and A at another Emmy
Awards. Cheryl and I went to the Emmys for several years. We always had
a great time because that was our annual visit with A and
Leslie
in New York. We've met Leslie's mom and Cody on several occasions. One
year when Leslie couldn't come to New York for the Emmys, A called me and
asked me to be his date for the Awards. That was the most exciting thing
that could have happened to me. We had a great time; unfortunately, A did
not win that year - Peter Bregman did. Peter even came up to A (sitting
in the first row with myself and Marcy Walker - what a thrill) to say he
was sorry that A did not win (this had been Peter's second win and A still
had not won, yet) - A congratulated him and said that Peter deserved it.
I told A that he deserved it not Peter. Cheryl and I met so many of the
actors through the years but we stopped going when A left Santa Barbara.
Since we already met practically everyone (except of course the newcomers)
it wasn't fun anymore without A.
I want to thank you for this website - it is a great way to keep in
touch with what A is up to now. How did the two of you get involved with
creating this wonderful site? I would love to help if I could, but I do
not have a computer. Cheryl has one in work and she periodically checks
A's site and prints out the latest info.
I enclosed the pictures that I thought A would approve of. I have many
candid photos of A and his family but I know A would not want these on
line. Enclosed is a self addressed stamped envelope for you to return the
photos after they are scanned. If they come out good and you still would
like some more, there are a few more that I could send that A would approve
of; I just didn't want to send too much at one time.
I hope to see my photos on the web page and am looking forward to hearing
from you. Keep up the good work and say hi to A for me and my family. I
hope everyone has a great Holiday season.

Dear Stacey,
Thank you for taking us up on our request. We'll be dropping your pics
back in the mail and we hope you have more where these came from. We do

Hi A,
Thanks for signing and sending your CD to me so quickly! I just wanted
to let you know that I really think it is a beautiful CD! From the first
moment I downloaded those song samples from the Internet I enjoyed them
and the songs are just getting better and better as you get to know them!
It is great music, great singing and I really love the lyrics. It is like
each song is telling a different story, almost like they could have been
a collection of short stories from a book. And I think it is great the
way you have your whole family participating, contributing to making the
CD so special. You have a beautiful family! I would have to say that the
song "Fragrance & Thorn" is my favorite. It is a terrific
melody sung with such feeling and with that sweet little baby starting
it off so well. What can I say - it is just magical. So I am sure I will
have many more pleasant hours of listening to your music and I will be
happy to spread the word about the CD.
I guess you have heard this so many times before but I just had to
mention how much I enjoyed "Santa Barbara" because of you and
Marcy Walker. I just wanted to say thank you for all the hours of fun and
excitement that you have provided me and many others with.
I saw your first appearance on "Profiler" (here in Sweden)
the other week. Normally I think "Profiler" is a little bit too
violent for me, but I do have to admit that there were many good scenes
and some great dialouge between you and Ally Walker so I will definitely
be watching the show.
You have done a great job both as an actor and a musician and you should
really really be proud of your work!
Best of luck to you in the future,
Annika
to ANNIKA
Annika -
What a wonderful letter. Thank you so much for taking the time to let
me know what you thought. It took three years from the time the first song
(Hope) was written, till the album was actually done. Along the way a lot
of songs started to take shape that were eventually abandoned, and at many
points in the writing it seemed really hard to stay focused on the original
vision - like maybe the whole project was impossible or wrong somehow.
And now, all this time later - I read a letter like yours and I know it
was worth it.
By the way, we wondered about whether to leave Ren at the beginning
of the song "Fragrance & Thorn," since she was only eight
months old at the time and couldn't really speak - but she loved the microphone
and, as you can tell, she knew something was supposed to happen. Now when
she hears it she's so happy - tells everyone around that it's "me
when I was a baby."
Again, Annika, thank you. You made my day.
A
