A's FAVORITE SITES

OKAY!!! Here is where we have gathered links for some of the Websites that are most favored around here, some for their nostalgic and/or personal appeal, others for their utterly amazing attributes. In the course of building this site, we benefitted directly and often from the willingness of people to share their knowlege and their tools. We're going to use this page to pass along some of the nuggets we have uncovered in our ongoing quest to GET IT RIGHT! This is an early version - but we plan to expand as time goes on. Here again, we'd love to hear from you about your own favorite places, so we can check them out and maybe add them to the list. Just click on the images to jump to the sites. Happy trails...

This is the amazing "Jumbo" Site, a Software Nirvana where you will find access to more than 74,000 Freeware Programs, which are available for you to download and use - for free. There are applications of almost every imaginable type to be found on this world-class website. We went there, for instance, to find a tool to generate "WAV" audio files for our clients who visit us using Windows-based computers (our site was built on a Mac), and we were able to locate what we needed and bring it to our computer in minutes. "Jumbo" is a GREAT Website.

The grand but casual genius of Professor Stephen Hawking, one of the great minds of the twentieth century, can be accessed at this website. A particular favorite of ours is his essay. "A Brief History of Time" (Click on Lectures when you get there) wherin the Professor muses on how the world as we know it began and where it seems to be heading. The amazing thing about Hawking's mind is that he is able to render the extraordinary concepts he proposes as easy to grasp as they are compelling. He is a treasure living among us and it is a real treat to be able to taste a little of his thinking. You can also check out his thoughts on disabilities such as his own, his thoughts on computers, etc.

A very nice Site run by Jim Armstrong, which is devoted to this singular show, which is still running throughout the world. Here you will find all sorts of info, including the identities of the hundreds of people who made it into the multiple Emmy-winner it was, from the Executive Producers down to the Camera Operators. A huge list of the many actors who passed through is there to refresh your inquisitive memory. (This was a real blast for A to stroll through). You can download the SB theme song, check out plotlines, and feast your eyes on a multitude of very cool pictures. This site is a must see for fans of the show, which is known in some parts of the world (notably Germany) as "California Clan." wander around from.

A favorite of A's for the easy access to upgrades of Apple software products it provides, this site is obviously more useful to users of Macintosh computers than others. But it's also worth checking out for anyone who has expectations of using Apple Products sometime in the future, or to anyone who's interested in steeping themselves in a little of the Corporate Culture of a legendary and visionary company. Most of the ease with which we use these remarkable tools was first imagined and executed by Apple. They have been through a lot of bumps the last few years, some by their own design, but Apple remains an important company on the cusp of what will probably be a very fruitful future.

This is the Website of Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, California, from which A graduated before heading on to UCLA, and where he first got seriously bent toward acting, through the inspiration of a wonderful teacher named Barbara Miller. A also played a lot of music on and off campus as a guitarist/singer in a surf band called "The Makahas," along with his old cohorts Jan Senecal, Dale Benoit, Terry Linville and Donnie Ball. (We are looking for a picture of that group, and a copy of their only record. Can anyone help?) The VHHS is maintained by Gunnar Loy and would no doubt be a fun place to visit for any fellow alumni of the school. They have info on coming class reunions and on how to locate lost friends.
